Air Fryer Pork Chops “Shake ’n Bake Style”

Different cuts and thicknesses of pork will determine your final cooking time. After you make your first batch, you'll know what your preferred timing is based on your specific cut of pork chops and size of air fryer.

Most of the shake and bake style seasoned breading mixes say to moisten the pork. The boxes often will suggest ice water, egg, &/or milk. We added the mayo part because it's a nice option for extra moist pork chops. And it also helps the breading stick better.

Ingredients

  • 3 (6oz.) (170 g) pork chops , rinsed & patted dry
  • Ice water, beaten egg, milk, or mayo, to moisten the pork
  • Shake ’n Bake Style Seasoned Coating Mix
  • Oil spray , to coat the pork chops

Instructions

  • Preheat Air Fryer at 380°F/195°C for 4 minutes.

  • Use ice water, beaten egg, milk, or mayo to moisten the pork chops or moisten based on boxed Seasoned Coating Mix instructions. Coat the pork chops with the seasoned coating mix.

  • Use oil spray to lightly coat air fryer basket/tray or place a perforated parchment sheet or perforated silicone mat in the air fryer basket/tray & lightly coat with oil spray (this helps keep the coating from sticking and coming off).

  • Place the coated pork chops in a single layer (cook in batches if needed). Make sure they aren’t touching or the coating may flake off when you flip them. Lightly coat the pork chops with oil spray.

  • Air Fry at 380°F/195°C for about 8-12 minutes. After 6 minutes, flip the pork chops and then continue Air Frying for the remainder of time or until golden and internal temperature reaches 145-160°F, depending on your doneness preference.

Thanks for the idea. It’s so hot here in NJ I didn’t want to turn the oven on or be outside to grill so it’s rice in the Instant Pot and Air Fried Pork Chops.

This worked perfectly! I’ve always had an issue getting crispy breading when using my oven. My air fryer knocked this out of the park! Thank you for the tips. I used the oven fry coating with an egg and cooked in my oster air fryer as directed for 12 minutes and they came out insanely perfect!

My parchment paper started on fire during the preheat cycle so watch out. I didn’t use it in the end and pork chops turned out very nice and moist.

Because pork chops are such a lean cut, they are relatively quick-cooking and prone to overcooking. How do you fry pork chops without breading falling off? ›

My current process is I dry the pork chop, salt it, dip in flour, dip in egg, dip in breadcrumbs, into the hot oil. Cook it on both sides until crispy and brown, then pull it out and let cool on a wire rack.

How do you get seasoning to stick to pork chops? ›

For example, if you're making pork chops, you want to liberally cover both sides of each chop. Let the meat sit for a while so the seasoning can sink in. In some cases, 15 minutes is enough, but I recommend letting it sit for 2 hours or even overnight (in the refrigerator) to really let it absorb.
