City Announces Road Closures and Other Details for 2024 “BE YOU” Pride March and Festival | Office of Special Events (2024)

PHILADELPHIA –The City of Philadelphia released road closure information for the 2024 “BE YOU” Pride March and Festival that will take place on Sunday, June 2.

This year’s event will begin with the “BE YOU” Pride March beginning at 11 a.m. While floats, banners of corporations, large institutions, and vehicles will not be permitted, the march is open to the public and all are welcome to join in the celebration. The march will begin at 6th and Walnut Streets and end at 11th and Locust Streets where the Pride Festival will begin at noon.

The “BE YOU” Pride Festival is a street festival celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and will feature community resources, youth and family programming, a low sensory relaxation zone, a sober space and dry bar area, and Kiki Alley, a celebration space highlighting the rich culture and history of the Philadelphia ballroom community. “BE YOU” Pride March Route

All participants in the “BE YOU” Pride March will assemble at 6th and Walnut Streets beginning at 10 a.m.

The march will commence at 11 a.m., starting at 6th and Walnut Streets and proceeding northbound on 6th Street to Walnut Street, westbound on Walnut Street to 10th Street, southbound on 10th Street to Locust Street, and ending at 1100 Locust Street. The march is scheduled to conclude at noon.

“BE YOU” Pride Festival

Immediately following the conclusion of the “BE YOU” Pride March, the “BE YOU” Pride Festival begins. The festival will take place from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The following streets will be closed starting at 5 a.m. until approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 2:

● Juniper Street from Walnut Street to Cypress Street
● Cypress Street from Juniper Street to 12th Street
● 13th Street from Walnut Street to Pine Street
● 12th Street from Walnut Street to Pine Street
● Quince Street from Walnut Street to Pine Street
● Locust Street from Juniper Street to 11th Street
● Pine Street from Juniper Street to 11th Street
● Spruce Street from Juniper Street to 11th Street
● Chancellor Street from Juniper Street to 12th Street
● St. James Street from 13th Street to 12th Street
● S. Camac Street from Walnut Street to Pine Street
● Irving Street from Juniper Street to 13th Street
● Schubert Alley from S. Camac Street 12th Street
● Manning Street from S. Camac Street to 12th Street

Parking Restrictions

The above-listed streets will be posted as “Temporary No Parking” zones from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. Motorists must adhere to “Temporary No Parking” signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

Public Transportation

SEPTA Bus Routes on affected roadways will be detoured from their normal routes beginning at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 2 through approximately 8 p.m. Detours will be posted, and specific route changes are available on the System Status Page at www.septa.org.

Public Safety Information

Throughout the event, the City will provide law-enforcement support, traffic control, and emergency medical services for the event and in the surrounding vicinity.

Attendees should never leave bags or other items unattended. In the event of an emergency or to report a suspicious person, activity, or item (backpack, package, container, etc.), notify a police officer immediately or call 9-1-1. Do not try to open, move, cover or touch a suspicious item.

In addition, the public should expect congestion in the area. If you are attending the event, make a plan regarding driving, public transit, parking, and supervision of children. It is recommended that attendees wear comfortable, weather-appropriate attire.

Trash Removal

At the conclusion of the event, all trash collection and street cleaning will be managed and handled by the Sanitation Division of the Streets Department. If you need to report any excess trash in the area, post-event, residents can call 3-1-1 or 215-686-8686.
