I often speak of the importance of Safety, and I cannot stress this enough. At VARO Energy, Safety is our highest priority - for our employees, contractors and customers alike. Severe incidents represent the worst possible outcome for any organisation and have a deep impact on all of us and our loved ones. Yet, industry research consistently underscores that these incidents could have been prevented by adhering to straightforward, life-saving rules. That is why, as part of our safety policy, we have also incorporated the 9 Life-Saving Rules, as defined by the IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers). These rules are considered “life critical” and relate to activities that - if not executed correctly every time - pose a significant risk. I believe that it is important to foster, across our industry, a common understanding around these rules and a standard for their implementation. At VARO - whether in our manufacturing sites, terminals or logistical operations and offices - we aim to create a culture where safety is not just a rule, but a way of life. A culture where everyone is empowered to STOP WORK whenever conditions and behaviours are considered to be unsafe. This is our collective commitment, and we are proud to live by it, every day.

“BUT WE’RE DIFFERENT, YOU KNOW”When it comes to process safetydifferent industries can learn from one another. At the post https://lnkd.in/exYQsgAD we discuss some of the unique features of various industries such as oil refineries, petrochemical plants, offshore facilities, pipelines and transportation. In spite of the differences between these industries, they all have process safety programs that are similar to one another.

co*king Refiners: ***This year's topic at the co*ker Safety Group will focus on shutdown lessons learned, a hot topic you won't want to miss. It will be held Friday, May 3 from 8 am - 2 pm.*** Background:For the last six years we have hosted an annual co*ker Safety Group, a free event that runs alongside alongside RefComm Galveston. The group, which meets on Friday of the conference, was created to provide a technical forum to help ensure that our individual delayed co*king units (DCUs) are operating in the safest manner possible. To this end, the focus of these meetings is on such issues as plant safety (including equipment and procedures), risk assessments, process monitoring, start-up and shut down guidelines, and philosophy regarding safety systems.Attendees share experiences, learn from others, and to develop ideas to operate DCU facilities more safely. No one company can have complete knowledge of these plants. Therefore, it is hoped that the collective experience of this group can help improve safety of these facilities. These meetings are closed door and highly confidential. We ask all attendees to contribute to the discussion and space is limited to two people per company. Refinery personnel only. If you would like to attend, please email becky@refiningcommunity.com or message Becky Peterson on LinkedIn. to reserve your place. RSVPing in advance is required. To learn more about RefComm, visit www.refcomm.com#refcomm #safety #training #oil #oilandgas #energy co*king.Com Inc.
