What is Galentine’s Day?

Have you hosted or attended a Galentine’s Day party before? It is such a fun way to get together and celebrate your besties.

Galentine’s Day is a fun, unofficial holiday celebrated on February 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day. It’s all about celebrating platonic love and friendship, especially among women.

Think of it as an anti-Valentine’s Day, focusing on appreciating your amazing girlfriends, sisters, mothers, and any other special ladies in your life. It’s a day to ditch the romantic expectations and celebrate the incredible women who lift you, make you laugh, and support you no matter what.

While it’s often associated with brunch and cute crafts, there’s no one-size-fits-all way to celebrate Galentines Day. You can host a fancy dinner party, go on a spa day, have a movie marathon, or just get together for some laughs and gossip.

The key is to express your love and appreciation for your female friends in a way that feels authentic and fun. So whatever that looks like to you, go with it!

Easy Galentine’s Day Table Decor Idea

Since I’m a gardener with over 25 years of experience, for me that means flowers….and lots of them! It’s a little too cold to cut anything from my cut flower garden but I find ways to incorporate them as much as possible in each of my tablecape designs.

I love entertaining and dressing up the dining room table for guests. No matter how big or small the event is, I enjoy designing a beautiful centerpiece and setting a gorgeous table that coordinates with it.

Galentine’s Centerpiece Idea for the Dining Room Table

For me, every gorgeous table starts with a beautiful dining table centerpiece. They are not hard to make and can be designed with live or faux plants.

If you want a centerpiece that will last for a season without the care, I suggest going with faux flowers and greenery.

And if you want to decorate with faux, create a collection so you can mix and match. I started my faux flower collection several years ago and I buy a few more pieces each year so I have more options for fake flower arrangements.

When making a centerpiece, start with a vessel you love. For me, I am obsessed with my vintage toolbox that I found thrifting. It’s one of those thrift store finds you should never leave behind if you love unique ways to display plants and flowers.

It looks incredible on my farmhouse dining table and I love the vintage rustic vibe. This toolbox has gone through many looks in the last year.

To tone it down for winter, I removed the Christmas ornaments and added a few more organic touches. For Valentine’s Day, I swapped out half of the greens and pine cones for these GORGEOUS faux roses.

To brighten it up and add more dimension, I tucked in some white berries and these neutral, textured ornaments instead.

Doesn’t it look awesome? I love the mix of Christmas greenery with the roses.

I love how this one turned out. Now that we designed our Galentine’s Day centerpiece, let’s decorate the dining room table.

Those gorgeous faux roses and burlap garland are the inspiration for this beautiful tablescape. For the table, I started with a grain sack table runner that has a red ticking stripe. It creates a cozy base layer that sets off that vintage toolbox, don’t you think?

I bought it for my Christmas dining table decor, but it’s doing double duty for Galentines Day with my besties!

As an aside, the best part about using a toolbox for a centerpiece is how easy it is to remove from the table before we eat! Readers oftentimes question the size in the middle of the table, but I just take it off when we actually sit down to eat so there’s room for the food and lots of lively conversation.

For each place setting, I started with my favorite cedar branch placemats. Then, I topped off each with this beautiful burlap placemat on top.

I added this gorgeous scalloped melamine charger and topped it off with my grandmother’s Lenox. To add a pop of red, I used rose red napkin linens.

For some casual elegance, I used gold flatware and my beautiful gold-rimmed champagne flutes.

And for a special gift, I bought my favorite gals some delicious chocolates from my favorite local choclatier, J Emanuel Chocolates. They have the best chocolates around and I get them every year for my family.

So I tucked them in these adorable Valentine’s Day gift boxes. Aren’t they so cute?

My girlfriends loved these. And the chocolate was so good to boot too!

And I used a lot of the same faux greens and florals, just in different ways. It started with this gorgeous Thanksgiving centerpiece. Then I changed it up slightly to make this beautiful Christmas centerpiece idea.

After the holidays, the same toolbox transitioned to this amazing winter centerpiece idea for the dining table. And then it transitioned to spring and summer with this centerpiece idea for the dining table. It was a little more spring, but I kept it through summer because it was neutral, looked gorgeous and I loved it. It got a new look for fall.

Here’s what it looked like for holidays this year.
