God of War guide: Light Elf Outpost (2024)

Late in God of War, you’ll be able to reach the shores of the Light Elf Outpost. To find everything, you’ll need the titular item from “The Magic Chisel” Journey. To dock, you’ll need to be in the Lake of Nine’s low water phase. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get everything in Light Elf Outpost.

The dock, the Ogre and the Shadows

You can see full island after the Lake of Nine’s low water phase. Paddle to the northern side of Light Elf Outpost to find a beach where you can dock.

Once you cross into the main area, you’ll see an Ogre and and a few Shadows. (If you approach this area even later in the game you may see different enemies.) If you have the chisel from “The Magic Chisel” Journey, you can unlock the chisel door to reach a coffin containing a handful of solid Svartalfheim steel and several World Serpent scales.

How to find Nornir chest runes

One of the few things you’ll notice in this area is a Nornir chest. The runes are scattered throughout this entire island, and the rest of this guide will show you where to find the rune seals to break and the items you can pick up along the way.

The R-shaped rune seal

After dispatching the enemies near the dock, you’ll see some breakable boards right below the Nornir chest. Break the wood with your axe and have Atreus shoot the crystal to reveal a light bridge that leads to the Nornir chest.

Walk up the bridge and look to your left. You’ll see the R-shaped rune to break with your axe.

The C-shaped rune seal

After getting the first rune, turn to your right and run past the gate to an area where you can jump over. Hook a left after you get through the clearing and drop the chain to head to the lower area. Once down there, you might notice a chest on your left with hacksilver, but before you can open it, you’ll have to deal with a Viken first.

After taking out the enemy, there’s a few things you can do in this area. First, don’t forget that hacksilver hidden to the right of the chain you dropped to get here. Right next to it is a little cave with a moveable light crystal and a gate you can open to get you back into the main area. Open the gate but ignore the crystal for now.

The Realm Tear will give you some Dust of the Realms. Heading to the far end of that area is another wooden chest filled with hacksilver. To the left of that are some wooden boards you can break by throwing your axe. Have Atreus shoot the crystal with blue arrows to create a light bridge. Once you’re done with this, head to the center of this area to scale the wall and reach the upper level.

At the top, you’ll be able to lift a gate that’s next to the Nornir chest. Use the chain against the wall. Moving forward across the light bridge you created, you’ll be greeted by two fire-chucking enemies. Behind them will be a place to place the light crystal.

Kill your enemies and backtrack to where the crystal was. Once you have the crystal, walk through the gate right next to it, up the light bridge toward the Nornir chest and through the gate you previously opened. Follow the path past the area where you fought the two enemies to drop the crystal into its holder. Hitting it with a blue arrow will unveil a light bridge right above you.

Taking that bridge into the next area will put you face-to-face with two more fire-throwing enemies. Put them to rest and check out the wooden wall to the left of the light bridge’s end. Beyond it is some hacksilver and a chain you can drop into the main area. You can ignore this for now.

Moving past the area with the enemies, round the corner and you’ll be standing above the main area. If you look above you to the left and right, you’ll find two light crystals you can shoot so Atreus can make two light bridges. Keep moving forward until you see another climbable wall and a chain you can knock down to a lower area. Ignore the chain for now, but if you look ahead, you’ll see the C-shaped rune.

The N-shaped rune seal

Climbing up the wall will pit you against enemies carrying shields as well as two more chucking fire at you from above. Once you’ve taken care of them, you’ll have two light bridges to step across. Start with the one on the left.

While running across it, you’ll notice a light crystal. Ignore it for now.

Keep going around the island, over the gap and up a small wall until you reach a gate. Lift it up and find a chest with a Runic Summon for Atreus as well as some Pristine Scales of the Realm, which you can use to upgrade powerful armor. While you’re up there, you may notice a place to put a crystal.

Exit this area and take a right so you’ll be running across the other light bridge you ignored earlier. Before totally crossing this bridge, stop halfway and look to your left at the pillar out in the sea with the seagulls on it. There you’ll find the N-shaped rune.

Swing around the opposite light bridge to grab the crystal. Return it to the holder where the golden chest was. Hit it with an arrow. If you look up above you to the left and right, you’ll see two more small light crystals. Hit those as well to reveal a Realm Tear. The enemies that come out of these are brutally strong. One of them will have a shield with two others with heavy maces. Defeating them will close the tear and give you some Dust of the Realms.

Open the chests (including a Legendary Chest) in this area for the Bitter Squirrel Runic summon (which is hilarious) and some Pristine Scales of the Realm.

Backtrack to the Nornir Chest and open it for an Idunn Apple.
