Are you planning a pool party this Valentine’s Day? Having a swimming pool in your own backyard can be really useful whenever there are special occasions like this one. There is nothing like staying in and celebrating with loved ones. Not only will it be quite intimate, but it will also be cheaper compared to what you will spend when you go outside. With the money you will save, you can buy a more expensive gift for your special someone for Valentine’s.
Of course, having a pool party at home will take some planning and preparation on your part. Fortunately for you, it will not take a lot to prep your pool for your Valentine’s Day swimming party.
First things first…
But before you think about the details of the party, you need to make sure your pool is ready for this event. Make sure that it is clean and the chemicals are within the right levels. Clean the water and make sure there is no floating debris on it. This is also a good time to check the pump, filter, etc. Ensure that everything works around your swimming pool. In case the chemicals need to be replenished, take care of this a few days before the party.
Take a look around the pool area and clean up the place too. It does not matter how creative you are with the decorations. If your place is dirty, it will not be too appealing for your guests.
Once you have one that, you can focus on the party details. Here is a checklist of what you need to prepare and some ideas that are perfect for the annual Heart’s Day.
Decorations
Let us start with how you are going to decorate your pool and the area around it. You have to remember that there is no need to overdo it. Just let your pool be the main attraction of the night. You can hang fairy lights on the branches of a nearby tree to set the mood. You can also buy red balloons and use ribbons to tie them on some of the chairs. Another option is to let the balloon float on the water. This will give a splash of color to the overall look. No need to put up paper decorations if you do not want to spend so much effort cleaning up after the party.
Food
This is probably the most important part of the party. When you are planning a Valentine’s Day party, you want to serve the right food. Since it will be a swimming party, you should ideally have the food prepared beforehand. That way, you do not have to keep on going inside to prep the meals. The food will depend on the time that you will hold the party. Usually, it is at night. Why not opt to serve mostly desserts. Prepare cut up sandwiches beforehand but the main part of the food should be desserts. Go for chocolates, brownies, cookies, and even cake. Serve up wine to make things more romantic.
Music
What is a party without music, right? The music selection will depend on the theme of the party and the type of mood that you want to create. If you want it to be lively, then some upbeat party music is appropriate. But if you want a more romantic mood, then dig up a list of love songs that you and your guests can enjoy. If they prefer some jazz or classical music – that is all up to you.
Activities
Again, this will depend on the theme of the party. If you want it to be lively, you should prepare some games that can be played in the water or around it. Just make sure that it is safe enough for everyone. If you and your guests prefer a more subdued party, there are games that you can play in the pool that will not require too much movement. A couple of card or drinking games, if done responsibly can be a lot of fun.
When you have a pool party for Valentine’s Day, it is important to remain sober and keep an eye out for your guests. If you will be serving alcoholic drinks, make sure everyone stays safe. You do not want anyone to be too drunk and then slip and hurt themselves.
Once everything is done, it is time to enjoy your Valentine’s Day with those close to you. Remember, it does not have to be too grand. The important thing is to spend this special day with those important to you.
